We engage our employees and wider stakeholders to unlock their talent and knowledge to drive year on year progress in sustainability.
We recognise that transparent communication is essential for transformational change and we quantifiably contribute to 7 SDG.
Aurora works to connect healthcare organisations with stakeholders to understand and shape decisions that create Healthcare for Good.
In this Decade of Action, the company wants to ensure that they are a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring its own impact on the environment.
Achieving Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
Over the next year, Aurora will continue reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
Through Planet Mark, Aurora has protected endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
“Aurora has joined a community that is dedicated to changing things for the better. The Group understand that the health of our planet and the health of our population go hand in hand, and a struggling planet will have impacts on all of us. I’m pleased to work with companies like Avalon Group that are able to see the importance of environmental action, and are committed to change across the business.”
“We are a small business but nevertheless dedicated to doing what we can to protect people’s futures. We are a healthcare specialist communications agency and improving lives through better health information is what we do every day. This goes hand in hand with sustainable living and protecting our planet, for ourselves and for our clients.”
Claire added “In fact, Aurora companies all work together with their clients to achieve Healthcare for Good via an ethical framework to ensure eco-friendly practices as well as the diversity of thought and creativity. Nothing we recommend should be harmful to people or the planet, so it requires objectivity and integrity to ensure we are always doing the right thing to improve people’s health. We are proud to achieve Planet Mark certification and look forward to reducing our carbon footprint year-on-year.”
The healthcare industry produces a large amount of carbon emissions, producing over 4% of our global emissions. For global carbon targets to be reached, the industry must look to low-carbon solutions that do not compromise the quality of care. These can be found throughout the whole supply chain. As businesses become more knowledgeable about supply chain emissions, companies and organisations in healthcare must be able to demonstrate their environmental credentials, as a planetary and business imperative.
To recertify next year Aurora must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
