Cheyney Goulding LLP, a Surrey based corporate and commercial law firm committed to providing the highest level of service, has achieved the Planet Mark Certification. Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
This is Cheyney Goulding’s third year of business carbon footprint reporting and certification to Planet Mark. In this Decade of Action, the company wants to ensure that they are a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring its own impact on the environment.
Over the next year, Cheyney Goulding will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community
“I’m so pleased to have Cheyney Goulding join Planet Mark. The commitment the team has made is a huge step in becoming a sustainable business. While change comes from within, change can also cause ripples outward. With Cheyney Goulding’s wide array of stakeholders, the team is equipped to create positive impacts well beyond the walls of its own offices. I look forward to seeing the firm take the next steps on its sustainability journey.”
Cheyney Goulding realises the importance of acting on climate change, both as part of the community and as a business. As well as committing to the reduction of carbon emissions annually, Cheyney Goulding has pledged to protect one acre of vulnerable rainforest with the charity Cool Earth. It has also pledged to engage its network of stakeholders and clients to create sustainable change throughout its supply chain and create awareness of sustainability on a greater level.
Climate change has been consistently climbing the agendas of law firm across the world. In the decade of climate action, the legal industry must capitalise on clients’ increasing awareness of our need to save the planet from global warming. Becoming knowledgeable about sustainability and following good practice has become an integral part of client acquisition in the sector. A thorough sustainability policy is also of growing importance in the recruitment and retention of staff, and the long term resilience of a business.
To recertify next year Cheyney Goulding must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
