Codex was founded to offer its customers great value and unbeatable local service on their day-to-day office supplies. In this Decade of Action, the company wants to ensure that they are a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring its own impact on the environment.
Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
Over the next year, Codex will continue reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
“Congratulations to Codex on taking decisive action on climate change. Certification to Planet Mark lays the foundations for long-term, dynamic sustainable change. Codex has a system in place to future-proof its business, and make it a more desirable business to its clients. I am pleased to work with such a forward-thinking business and wish them luck in their carbon cutting goals.”
By understanding the nature of the office supplies industry and the footprint left behind, Codex has analysed years of operations to deliver tangible effective environmental solutions to its customers. Not only does the company carry one of the most extensive ranges of environmental products in the marketplace but the team ensures delivery of these products to its customers in a way that lessens its carbon footprint. The company has invested in its office and operations to reduce emissions and stocks a range of low impact supplies.
The world of business is quickly becoming more knowledgeable about its role in climate change, and many are requiring strong sustainability standards from their supply chains. B2B companies and suppliers must do more to demonstrate their robust sustainability credentials, for both the planet and for their businesses. Be it through operational emissions, or stocking sustainable products, green initiatives have the potential to incentivise clients and create operational efficiencies.
Through Planet Mark, the company has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
To recertify next year Codex must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
