DD Products and Services, a full-service dental dealer, has achieved certification to Planet Mark. This is the company’s second year of carbon reporting.
DD Products and Services’ total carbon footprint in the year ending March 2021 was 1,014.4 tCO2e, a reduction of 14.2%. DD Products and Services has saved the same amount of carbon as preventing 84 tonnes of coal from being burned.
It also had its Social Value contribution measured by Planet Mark, which amounted to £46,652, and was derived from its employees.
Over the next year, DD Products and Services will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the firm will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
“DD Products and Services has made tremendous strides forward this year. A 14% reduction in carbon emissions is a fantastic achievement, and can only be achieved through a dedicated effort across the business. The company’s team, its stakeholders, and its clients can all be very pleased with the efforts made this year. Well done to all involved, and I look forward to seeing more success in the future.”
“Our social responsibilities are top of mind. We have a dedicated ‘Eco Team’ that are constantly looking to maintain a culture that DD has developed to protect the natural environment, and we are proud to have reduced our carbon emissions by 14% in 2021. ”
Paul Adams added “We ensure that we save materials when shipping goods by using algorithms that calculate the space needed for each product. We use recyclable and compostable wool insulated packaging for our temperature-controlled products. All of our offices recycle and reduce energy as much as possible with regard to heating and lighting. We provide plug-in charge points for electric and hybrid vehicles on-site and future projects include transitioning to electric vans for our engineers.”
Businesses are turning to their supply chains for innovative, sustainable solutions to help reduce their emissions. Business suppliers must respond in kind to this dramatic shift in market forces. From the products stocked to the means of delivering and disposing of goods, an environmental focus must be applied throughout the business to implement sustainability across the business.
Beyond the commitment to continually reduce its environmental impact, DD has several initiatives to help protect the environment. Its site in Ireland has a recycled wood pellet heating system that supports the office areas and the operational buildings. The group has introduced also system algorithms that calculate the size of outer packaging for the number of products ordered, resulting in no more big boxes with small products. Furthermore, all insulated packaging is recyclable and compostable for the shipping of temperature-controlled products, and it has committed to low-energy solutions in all of its offices.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, DD Products and Services has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
