Enhance Facilities Services, an ethical cleaning and facilities company has achieved the Planet Mark certification.
Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
In this crucial Decade of Action, the company want to ensure that they are a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring its own impact.
Over the next year, the company will continue to work towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the firm will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
“Welcome to the Planet Mark community, Enhance Facilities Services! I’m pleased to see our community growing with businesses like Enhance Facilities Services, who are dedicated to making their business work better for our planet. The team has coalesced its sustainable action into one robust policy, with a clear goal of cutting carbon year on year. I cannot wait to continue working with their team and seeing the progress made.”
Enhance is committed to working in compliance with the necessary legal requirements including The Environmental Protection Act, 1990 and The Environment Act, 1995. Enhance also moves beyond compliance, minimising the production of waste, material and energy use, promoting recyclable materials and reducing the use of products with difficult to dispose of chemicals and microfibres. The company also favours local suppliers with sustainable credentials.
Facilities Services companies must adapt in the wake of corporate sustainability. Businesses are increasingly turning to their supply chain to help lower Scope 3 emissions, and facilities management companies are often one of the first to be asked about the action they can take to forward a sustainable agenda. Companies in this industry must be able to respond, for the good of the planet, and their business.
Through Planet Mark, the company has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It is also helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
To recertify next year Enhance Facilities Services must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
