Electrical wholesale distributor, EWL Electric has achieved the Planet Mark certification.
The company recognises the importance of minimising its environmental impact and embracing sustainable practices. Understanding and measuring its carbon footprint is the first step in identifying ways to minimise its impact on the planet.
Over the next year, EWL Electric will be working with Planet Mark to reduce its carbon emissions and share its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
EWL Electric has also measured its social value contributions. This refers to the net social and environmental benefits generated by its team. Measuring its social value gives a holistic insight into its positive contributions to not only the environment but also to society, demonstrating its commitment to meaningfully contribute to a better planet for all.
Through Planet Mark, the company has protected endangered rainforests thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
To recertify next year EWL Electric must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
