Certification story

Multi-award winning construction company, Gelder Group have achieved the Planet Mark certification. In this Decade of Action, the company wants to ensure that they are a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet.

The company understands the impact it has on the environment and is taking positive steps to reduce it. In December of 2008, the Group planted over 3200 native deciduous trees at their head office environmental park.

Together with the Lincolnshire Beekeepers Association, Gelder Group have introduced hives of 30,000 European Dark Bees to their environmental park. All proceeds from the honey sales are donated to charity.

Looking to strengthen its environmental credentials, the company is working with Planet Mark to reduce its carbon emissions and share its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to increase its positive impact significantly and hopes to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Through Planet Mark, Gelder Group have protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
