We engage our employees and wider stakeholders to unlock their talent and knowledge to drive year on year progress in sustainability.
We recognise that transparent communication is essential for transformational change and we quantifiably contribute to 7 SDG.
Glen Dimplex, the world’s largest manufacturer of electrical heating, and also specialising in the manufacture of domestic appliances, cooling, ventilation, and renewable energy solutions, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
Achieving Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
Glen Dimplex Deutschland has made it its mission to help make the world more environmentally friendly and energy efficient. Its heating, ventilation and cooling systems are powered solely by electricity: the only energy that can be produced using completely renewable, CO2-free sources. We are also helping to drive the Energy Transformation forward with resource-saving and energy-saving ideas, from intelligent, networked energy management and heat recovery concepts, to the use of natural refrigerants.
The company will continue to make strides towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
“I am delighted to have Glen Dimplex Planet Mark certified. As an industry leader, their work will not only make great changes in their own business, but across the heating industry as a whole. Heating is a huge conversation point in the quest for a low emissions future, and having heating companies lead on climate action is a great step towards achieving our climate goals. With robust measurements in place, Glen Dimplex is primed for carbon emissions reductions.”
It is estimated that 19% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions come from warming up the places we live and work, with more than three-quarters of this coming from domestic buildings. Companies involved in the manufacture of heating products must analyse their whole supply chain, from the sourcing of materials, through product design and waste disposal, to deliver products fit for a resilient future. This is not only a planetary imperative, it is also necessary as a business to thrive during an energy transition.
Through Planet Mark, the company has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
To recertify next year Glen Dimplex Australia must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
