We engage our employees and wider stakeholders to unlock their talent and knowledge to drive year on year progress in sustainability.
We recognise that transparent communication is essential for transformational change and we quantifiably contribute to 7 SDG.
HSG UK, experts in washrooms and water saving, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
Over the next year, it will continue reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
Through Planet Mark, HSG UK has protected endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
“HSG has made a statement of intent. Certification to Planet Mark is no small commitment, requiring dedication throughout the team to create positive change across the whole business. HSG already delivers sustainable solutions to so many of its clients, but the team knows it can do keep striving for better. I congratulate the ambition of the HSG team, and look forward to seeing progress in the future.”
HSG works with clients to create bespoke washroom hygiene solutions for their businesses. Their work involves saving energy, through electricity and water use, for their clients, by installing innovative and efficient technologies to use water to its maximum potential.
Energy efficiency companies must walk the walk on sustainability. The industry must be prepared to create a low impact, environmentally friendly workspace for its own operations, as it does for its clients. This is important, not only for the purposes of branding but for demonstrating the expertise necessary to win clients.
With their unique portfolio of products, HSG work with clients to create bespoke washroom hygiene solutions. Their eco-friendly innovations save their customers money, water and energy.
These company values are reflected in their community engagement and HSG are proud to have supported Spondon Cricket Club in Derby for the past 9 years. The club offers cricket training and team participation for more than 150 boys and girls aged 5 to 19 and has 5 senior teams playing in Derby leagues. HSG recognise that cricket is a fantastic sport that has a positive impact on mental and physical well-being. The club is at the heart of the local community, bringing people of all backgrounds, cultures and ages together with a common love of the game.
The relationship began when the club moved to a new ground. The committee approached HSG for advice on eco-friendly washroom measures to further reduce the club’s environmental impact, having already installed solar panels and water harvesting equipment. As a market leader in washroom water conservation, HSG was able to advise and support ambitious carbon reduction measures with a range of washroom services saving the club thousands of pounds on utility bills and drastically reducing water usage. HSG committed to providing, free of charge, low-energy hand dryers to replace paper towels, oil-based air fresheners to negate the need for aerosols and core-less toilet paper rolls to reduce waste. HSG then took its support to the next stage by installing and servicing its Ureco system in the male washrooms. This innovative product drastically reduces water usage, significantly saving money on utility bills, maintenance and repairs, enabling the club to reduce its water consumption by 400,000 litres a year (3.6 million over 9 years) and save more than £9,000 so far in utility bills.
HSG’s relationship with Spondon CC has evolved over the years and has developed to HSG being the club’s main sponsor, providing training and playing kit, equipment and additional facilities for the club.
HSG are more than financial sponsors for Spondon Cricket Club, the company is an active partner ensuring that the club maintains and improves its sustainability agenda. They have continued to provide washroom services support and have expanded this in line with changing circumstances, including hand sanitisers and anti-bacterial soap. This has enabled the club to re-open as Covid restrictions eased. They have provided feminine hygiene units to support the club’s ambition to be the county’s leading club for women and girls.
Financial support has enabled players of all ages, backgrounds and cultures to get involved. All players have access to HSG-sponsored training and playing kit, breaking down financial barriers to participation. Equipment provided ranges from fitness equipment and practice nets to video technology, which enables those who cannot travel to still enjoy matches via YouTube. Changing facilities are now provided for players using the second ground which is further away from the clubhouse. Improving the washroom experience has encouraging hospitality bookings which are a major generator of income for the club.
HSG has demonstrated that sharing values and working together to find sustainable solutions can build long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships. HSG’s support has seen Spondon Cricket Club grow and thrive over the past few years, the quality of the facilities enabling the club to develop its home-ground young talent and attract first-class senior players to the club, leading to prized trophies and accolades. But the biggest reward has been the partnership of working together as a team to prioritise a sustainable and environmental approach, protecting the planet for the next generations, including the young cricketers of the future.
To recertify next year HSG UK must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
