iDCC Services, an established family run building contractor specialising in construction, maintenance, and refurbishment, has achieved Planet Mark certification. Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
This is iDCC Services’ third year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually. Over the next year, the company will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
“Congratulations to iDDC Services for achieving its annual carbon reduction target for 2021. It is always encouraging to see continued efforts to bring climate action to life. The iDDC team has set its sight on real change over the coming years, and this past year was an important stepping stone on that journey. I take great pleasure in helping companies realise their climate goals, and iDDC has been a tremendous partner to work with.”
At iDCC Services, sustainability is an integral part of its business. The company believes in supporting local communities and conducting business in the most sustainable and socially responsible way. Its bold action is echoed through its supply chain, having pledged to a number of ambitious targets. These include becoming carbon neutral by 2025 through conversion to an electric fleet, operating its head office on 100% renewable energy and improving its procurement processes. It also has a zero-harm policy that aims to identify and reduce its main environmental impacts. The company currently has an 89% recycling ratio – diverting over 450 tonnes of waste away from landfills.
The construction industry is one of the world’s largest polluters. In the United Kingdom, the built environment is responsible for nearly 20% of the nation’s carbon emissions. Sweeping changes must be made to the industry in the face of climate change, from on-site practice to creating sustainable and circular supply chains.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, iDCC Services has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
