Lawrie IP, established to provide clients with commercially relevant intellectual property advice tailored to their businesses, has achieved Planet Mark certification.

This is Lawrie IP’s first year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually. Lawrie IP’s total carbon footprint in the year ending June 2021 was 12.3 tCO2e. Lawrie IP’s total carbon per employee in the year prior to June 2021 was 0.5 tCO2e.

Steve Malkin
Founder and CEO
Planet Mark
“Well done to Lawrie IP on achieving Planet Mark certification. This is a great step forward for the business, showing ambition to create a positive impact in its business, and recognising the real challenge that a sustainable transition presents. Lawrie IP has chosen to take action and embrace the new opportunities presented in a sustainable future. I look forward to continuing working with them to help create sustainable progress at the company.”

Certification story

Lawrie IP has made a number of commitments beyond its carbon reduction promise. Through Planet Mark, the law firm has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Their pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Ashaninka community in Central Peru. Through Planet Mark’s certification, Lawrie IP is also helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

As the property industry seeks to rapidly decarbonise, companies will increasingly turn to their supply chains for evidence of positive action on climate change. Companies working within the property sector must embrace sustainable change, seeing it as an opportunity to do right by the planet, and to gain a competitive edge in business acquisition and retention.

Future targets
