Low Carbon Europe (LCE), providers of sustainable engineering solutions that optimise building performance, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
This is Low Carbon Europe’s seventh year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. LCE has grown over the past 15 years to become the preferred supplier of building engineering and sustainability services to a number of high profile public sector and blue chip commercial organisations.
Its assignments to date have achieved energy reductions for clients ranging from 15% to 40%. In the past five years, the consultancy has helped organisations save over £100 million in energy costs and develop sustainable, energy-efficient plants and buildings.
“Low Carbon Europe is embodying the Planet Mark spirit. In their fifth year of certification, the company is continuing to reduce its carbon footprint, and show that it practices what it preaches on sustainability. Low Carbon Europe’s clients know that environmental best practice starts at home, and that the company is truly sustainable.”
“Here at LCE, we help private and public sector organisations reduce their energy use and carbon footprint. Within this, we are keen to show our clients and partners what it means to us, by taking our own steps to reduce. Whilst we have some reductions through lockdowns and limited access to client sites, we have also changed our business practices so that many of these savings can be kept in the long term. We use Planet Mark to certify our achievements to ensure that we are being held accountable for our emissions, as we do for our clients. We’re very proud of the reductions we’ve made since we partnered, and we’re excited to see how we can do more in future.”
Marco added, “Since 2017, Planet Mark has become a key component to measure the environmental impacts of our business, as well as identify our progress in making our business operations more sustainable. As a result, we have become very keen on promoting the benefits of this scheme and many of our clients are now certified too.”
Through Planet Mark, Low Carbon Europe has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
To recertify next year Low Carbon Europe must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
