The Maintenance Supply Company (MSC), a provider of janitorial supplies, has achieved Planet Mark certification. Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
This is The Maintenance Supply Company’s fourth year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually. Over the next year, the company will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

“MSC has made great strides in sustainability over the past year. Its commitment to measure and reduce its carbon emissions will impact on their customers, society, and the environment have all been improved. It is heart-warming to see the progress made by business, especially in such a taxing year. I can only hope that the excellent work continues into the future.”
The Maintenance Supply Company has made a number of other commitments to sustainability beyond an annual reduction in carbon footprint. The company offers a range of environmentally friendly, low-waste products for its customers. MSC also protects one acre of endangered rainforest through Cool Earth, a conservation charity.
Business to business suppliers has much to gain from embracing sustainable change. As well as being in a position to create positive environmental impacts throughout a supply chain, and as such make a difference well beyond the confines of their own business, suppliers of businesses will also stand to gain from an economic perspective. Boardrooms of all industries are looking for achievable solutions to their carbon footprints, so B2B companies must be able to offer a robust assessment of their own environmental credentials if they wish to remain competitive.

As part of the Planet Mark certification, MSC has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
