Restore Harrow Green, an organisation helping businesses change and grow for over 30 years, has achieved certification to Planet Mark. Achieving Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders
This is Restore Harrow Green’s 10th year of business carbon footprint reporting and certification to Planet Mark. It first calculated the carbon footprint of its offices and fleet for the year ending May 2014 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Restore Harrow Green will continue to reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
“Restore Harrow Green is experienced in creating a better world around them. I’m proud to partner with Restore Harrow Green, not only to help their team reduce their carbon footprint, but to help create a sustainable community around them. Change is most impactful when we bring others on the journey with us – that’s a philosophy both of us share. As we continue through the Decade of Climate Action, I hope our partnership continues to flourish.”
“As a company heavily reliant on a large fleet of vehicles we recognise the impact they have on the environment as well the need to reduce our carbon footprint year on year, with the aim of becoming carbon neutral. Planet Mark is a reliable way of scrutinising our output and being held accountable for our performance. In fact, with the help of Planet Mark we’ve made several improvements over the years. These range from intelligent lighting to rainwater collection systems for use in our vehicles’ wipers. Most importantly however, this year we’ve taken the first step towards converting our fleet from petrol to electric. We’re very excited about this development and look forward to even more sustainable actions in the coming months.”
In order to ensure that Restore Harrow Green continues to make strides in lowering its carbon footprint, and helping both local and global communities, an in-house Green Team meets on a monthly basis. The team aims to monitor office activity to ensure that the organisation minimises the use of power and water and ensures that they are as efficient as possible in printing, sourcing sustainable suppliers, and raising overall awareness among its staff. The Green Team’s plans include a trip to the Eden Project and local community support roles.
To recertify next year Restore Harrow Green must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
