Facilities management company Vertas Group Limited has achieved the Planet Mark certification. The company recognise it has a responsibility to preserve and enhance the environment for future generations. This means committing to reducing carbon emissions from its business operations with a focus on air, land and water.
Vertas Group continually works with everyone from stakeholders to suppliers and clients to support its environmental ambitions to drive positive change throughout its value chain.
It’s environmental strategy is a demonstration of its vision to deliver a greener, more sustainable organisation. An essential aspect of its framework is embedding environmental, social and governance analysis into its investment process across all asset classes.
From waste and recycling and energy and carbon management to travel and transport as well as sustainable procurement, Vertas Group are committed to reaching net zero by 2030.
Understanding and measuring its carbon footprint is the first step in identifying ways to minimise its impact on the planet. The team will be working with Planet Mark to reduce its carbon emissions, engage employees and share its journey with others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to increase its positive impact significantly and hopes to encourage continual improvements within its community.
Through Planet Mark, Vertas Group Limited has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
To recertify next year Vertas Group Limited must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
Vertas Group Limited has made a public commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030.
