Whiting Landscape, an organisation that offers a full range of services to cover every aspect of landscape construction and maintenance, has achieved Planet Mark certification.

Whiting Landscape is deeply committed to discharging ecology and landscape conditions and enhancing the environment of the new build. Whiting ensures that customer projects make the most of natural resources, increase biodiversity and protect ecosystems creating new habitats whilst complying with the latest regulations. Whiting coordinates the transportation of materials and plants to minimise the use of fuel, and where possible utilise non-toxic, reusable local materials. The team also advises clients on such factors as the visual impact of the site, drought-tolerant planting and effective drainage, knowing a landscape project that achieves sustainability is more likely to be welcomed by the local community and all involved with it.

The company will continue to reduce its carbon emissions and share its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Founder and CEO
Planet Mark
“Whiting Landscape has made a fantastic effort in the past year. Our partnership has helped the company deliver concrete reductions in its carbon footprint, helping reassure its customers that the brand is committed to rigorous and definite action on climate change. The team is dedicated to continuous improvement, and is exactly the kind of company that can create a better future.”
Jon Murphy
Director
Whiting Landscape
“We are proud to say we have been working with Planet Mark for a couple of years now and this has really added tangibility to our short and long-term environmental targets. As a team we want to play our part in tackling the global climate challenge and have initially focused on reducing carbon emissions from operations at our head office and tree/shrub nursery. We are in the process of employing an Environment & Sustainability Coordinator who will be involved in developing our carbon reduction plan, with an eventual aim of achieving net zero carbon. The direction and implementation of this plan is something we as a company are very excited about and we hope with the support of Planet Mark we can continue to take progressive strides forward!”

Through Planet Mark, Whiting Landscape has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Whiting Landscape must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
