Xenon Services, a leading provider of office cleaning and general cleaning services to contracts throughout central London, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
This is Xenon Services’ second year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Xenon Services’ total carbon footprint in the year ending December 2020 was 25.7 tCO2e, an increase of 16%. Xenon Services’ total carbon per employee in the year ending 2020 was 1.3 tCO2e, an increase of 16%.
“In a uniquely testing time for many businesses, some may be letting sustainability slip down their agenda. Xenon should be applauded for maintaining its commitment to measure and reduce its carbon footprint for a second year. All businesses must take decisive action to reduce their carbon footprints over the next decade, and there is no better time to start than the present. Now is a moment when we need all businesses to kick on – and Xenon are primed to make change.”
“Xenon has taken a holistic approach to doing what we can to reduce our impact on the environment. We recognise that we have a moral obligation to provide the most environmentally sound service possible, and our clients demand that we do whatever possible to ensure we are giving them the best service combined with sustainability. The Planet Mark has been invaluable in helping us establish a strategy to measure and improve our performance in several ways.”
Xenon is committed to the conservation of the environment. The company continually seeks to reduce the impacts of our products and services and to reduce waste by using material resources in the most efficient manner. The products it uses at all of its sites are 100% biodegradable and environmentally friendly. They also bear the European Eco-Label, a recognised standard that guarantees a product has been tested for reduced impact on the environment throughout its life-cycle. Its fleet runs on LPG or electric dual fuel, and it has extended its sustainability policy to its network of contractors, who are required to avoid sending waste to landfills.
Companies working in the cleaning industry should be able to embrace sustainability. Through taking close care of its supply chain, becoming knowledgeable about the impacts of chemicals in cleaning supplies and their correct disposal, the industry and its clients can quickly become much more resilient to the impacts of climate change in the future. As clients increasingly demand sustainable supply chains, pioneering companies in the cleaning industry will find sustainable credentials also become a welcome addition to client retention and acquisition.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, Xenon has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
